Port Sunlight Orchestral Weekend
Summer Orchestral Weekend at the University of Chester 21st - 23rd August 2020.
With no possibility of staging live concerts at the present time, the London Mozart Players have taken their music-making online and created ‘At home with LMP’, a daily stream of digital content to keep our audience engaged through isolation. Our digital programming over the coming months involves new collaborations with high-profile artists, as well as calling on the talents of our accomplished musicians. There is something for everyone in this series - from educational content, to live-broadcasts and family-friendly performances.
All the latest releases can be found via http://londonmozartplayers.com/athome/
I think you will especially enjoy the following segments:
Mozart Mondays: Members of the LMP unpick the works of Mozart and draw your attention to details you’ve never thought about before.
Our first three installments feature leader Simon Blendis talking about Mozart’s Symphony No.40. The sessions can be accessed on YouTube.
On Monday, 13 April, LMP leader Simon Blendis will answer our audience’s questions about Mozart’s music and our session on 20 April will feature clarinetist Michael Collins exploring the 1st movement of Mozart’s clarinet concerto in A Major.
Wednesday Weekly: An eclectic mix of content designed to let you get a peek behind the scenes of our musicians’ lives.
Our first sessions were:
Cellist Sarah Butcher talking about her work with dance group SLIDE: http://londonmozartplayers.com/a-spotlight-on-slide-with-lmp-cellist-sarah-butcher-weekly-wednesdays-at-home-with-lmp/
Cellist Sebstian Comberti discovering Bach’s lost 7th cello suite: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NglhgNdkC0E
Next on the list are Hilary Davan Wetton treating us to more insights about the art of conducting (15 April) and violinist and composer Fiona Brice blogging about String Quartet No. 1, as well as some of her other works (22 April).
Saturday Sessions: Recitals live-streamed directly from the homes of our musicians.
Our last two sessions were brought to you by guitarist Craig Ogden (https://www.facebook.com/londonmozartplayers/videos/994019590993457/) and violinist Ruth Rogers (https://www.facebook.com/londonmozartplayers/videos/912964279132544/).
Our next session will feature harpist Rosanna Rolton on 18 April. Please note the FB Live broadcasts can only be accessed through the LMP Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/londonmozartplayers/.
We would greatly appreciate it if you could forward the information about ‘At home with LMP’ to anyone you think might enjoy a bit of classical music, and also help us share the series on social media (FB: https://www.facebook.com/londonmozartplayers/; Twitter: https://twitter.com/mozartplayers Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/londonmozartplayers/).
