CALL FOR PERFORMERS

As part of Contemporary Music for All (CoMA) Festival 2020, Devon Philharmonic Orchestra (DPO) will be collaborating with the Royal Albert Memorial Museum (RAMM) to put on an immersive concert of new music. The concert will take place across the whole museum, comprising solos, chamber groups and large ensembles performing to bring historic artefacts alive with music. In addition, excerpts will be presented at RAMM's "Lates" and at workshop events for family audiences. A professional audio recording of all new music will be made for RAMM’s archive and learning and participation programmes. New compositions will also be considered for CoMA’s library catalogue http://www.coma.org/catalogue/

DPO is looking for performers who specialise in non-Western instrumental playing or singing. Specifically, those with musical backgrounds that relate to artefacts from the cultures that are showcased at RAMM such as;

  • West African

  • Burmese

  • Inuit

  • Afghanistan

  • Indian

Performers will be paid £200 for a 2-hour evening rehearsal on the 6th March 2020 and the performance on the 7th March 2020.

To apply performers must submit the following;

  • CV

  • A proposed idea for the performance including how it will relate to the museum’s exhibitions. Applicants are advised to either visit the RAMM or explore museum’s collection at https://www.rammuseum.org.uk/collections/

  • Two recordings of the performer in concert as a soloist.
